I am using TrueCrypt to fully encrypt my hard drives, so that both my and my customers sources are always protected. The entire hard drive is encrypted, which means that anybody stealing my computers will get just that, a computer.

TrueCrypt is free and open source, doesn't add any visible (by me) overhead to the disk access times, and hasn't created any problem on any of my machine since I started using it several years ago...
The only problem I currently have with it is that its last version (7.1) doesn't support the new windows 8 hard drive management system yet, which means that you cannot encrypt a whole hard drive using that system. For that reason (and some others :-) ), all my development machines are still in windows 7.
So for my peace of mind, and the peace of mind of all my customers, I have chosen truecrypt.
